From the day
Perspective: The Future Historian · Tactile
The rough burlap of my knickerbockers chafes against my knees as I lean over the parlor floor, my fingers tracing the hand-painted squares of Land's Lord. Elizabeth is bankrupting the neighborhood again, her eyes gleaming with a predatory focus that mirrors the grim dispatches of the Czar’s shifting generals in the morning paper. Despite the mud outside, the house feels warm and the parlor looks fit as a fiddle. I adjust my stiff cellulose collar, feeling the strange weight of this board game as it inadvertently trains us for a future of cold industrial conquest.
