From the day
Perspective: The Street Photographer · Sound
The bally clatter of the new tunnel company’s carts echoes up through the vents, competing with a nearby barrel organ grinding out "Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis" into the crisp Chicago air. I adjust my lens to catch a silk-hatted chump scolding a newsboy, the kid's face smudged with soot as he clutches a nickel close to his chest. He isn't eyeing the fresh bread in the window, but a hand-drawn set of The Landlord's Game tucked under a passerby's arm. It’s a capital sight, seeing the greed of the real world mirrored in a stack of cardboard and grit.
